Sweet & Tipsy - Cupcakes With a Kick

This month’s feature of Something’s Brewing in The Kitchen is one that’s perfect when you’re craving a little something Sweet but want to get a little Tipsy. It’s an adult version of a childhood favorite that has become increasingly popular lately: the cupcake. Except this one is not just a cupcake but rather a “cuptail”; an original, delicious marriage between a cupcake and a cocktail.

Veronica Hurtado, Founder of Sweet & Tipsy
Meet Veronica Hurtado, founder of Sweet & Tipsy, Miami’s up-and-coming cupcake for grownups; a fun fusion of sweetness and alcohol inspired by popular cocktails. I first tasted these mini delights back when I attended The Grind: Miami’s Burger Battle 2012 and I was immediately a fan. I loved the way each cupcake I tasted was perfectly combined with selected liquors creating an amazing balance of flavor and creamy texture - with a subtle “kick”.

This time around, I figured I’d spice things up a bit. In addition to my post, I wanted you to get a chance to meet Veronica up close and personal.  After a short conversation, we decided to meet and have a chat at an event she was cohosting at Novecento in Brickell . There was great music, a pulsating ambiance, and the best part – Sweet & Tipsy cupcakes.  Watch the interview video below and get ready to find out how Veronica, an advertising and marketing professional for 11 years, came up with the idea of creating alcoholic cupcakes while she enjoyed a day at the beach with a strawberry daiquiri in her hand.

Regular Flavors
A bit of paradise...
With such a great variety of flavors to choose from, both regular and seasonal, there is more than one favorite for every taste.  Having a weakness for chocolate, I absolutely loved the Muddy Mudslide but I couldn’t put down the Dulce Diosa or the Champagne Kisses.  Cool names such as Ay Mi Amorcito Mojito, Lazy Nina Colada and Cosmo in The City make you  want to order a dozen and try them all.  Each whimsical creation is light and moist, while the hint of alcohol isn't overwhelming. Rather, it gives the cupcakes a fun kick. There is a precise balance of flavors in each cupcake I guarantee will leave you wanting more.

Sweet & Tipsy cupcakes have been getting around too. Besides appearing at The Grind earlier this year, they were featured in The Junior League of Miami's "Women Who Make a Difference" Luncheon, had the honor of being the exclusive cuptails for a Ketel One after party, and most recently were the talk of the town at Bloomingdale's own Stiletto Strut Event. They definitely have something brewing in the kitchen!
