Peace Love and Crepes at Giache Crepes in Wynwood

I know when you think of crepes, you usually think of sweet ones. Admit it. You bask in the memory of a thin, pancake-like, delicious bite, filled with everything from fruit, chocolate and whipped cream. And while you're right, and I salivate when I think of those too, it's time to expand our palates to a world of savory crepe goodness.... which brings us to Giache Crepes in Wynwood.

Located at 295 NW 27 Street, you can immediately notice when you walk in that this place satisfies more than your appetite. The art on the wall matches the art inside their crepes. Decorating the walls in typical Wynwood style is pretty impressive artwork by Argentinian artist Flavio Galvan. Paintings from his Faces Series glance back at you as you bite into the perfect crepe and suddenly you're not sure whether you're in a restaurant or an art gallery. We truly enjoyed the experience, from the engraved tables, to the hanging chairs, to the retro jackets for sale in the back. It wasn't just a savory and sweet adventure, but an artsy one as well.

Let me start taking you on the crepe culinary road. We tried two savory crepes and two sweet ones because, well, besides feeling like piggies for the night, we wanted to bring you as much flavor-filled information as possible. Let me start by saying these crepes are HUGE. You will be satisfied, and deliciously so. We shared the Rib Eye Crepe, which is relatively new on the menu, and the Pepi Queen. The Rib Eye Crepe is prepared with some grilled Rib Eye chunks, drizzled with a chimichurri aioli, and caramelized onions, then covered with shoestring Potatoes (I remember these from my childhood). It was a mouthful of carnivorous proportions. The Pepi Queen was an even more flavorful palate pleaser, tickling our tongues with perfectly grilled chicken breast, avocado and mayonnaise, with a hint of black pepper, cilantro and pico de gallo.

Of course, there's always room for dessert, especially when it's a sweet crepe. We shared their version of a Tiramisu, But Rolled Up In A Crepe With A Lot Of Chocolate, and their 3 Leches, No 4 Leches... OK Just Give Me 5 Leches. These two summed up my very essence in life. The Tiramisu was made with mascarpone, 100% Venezuelan cacao powder, house made lady fingers, vanilla extract, Ristretto, St. James brown rum and guess what else? That's right.... a lot of chocolate. I know I can stop right here but do you really want me to? The 5 Leches was insane.  Just imagine grass-fed whole milk, dulce de leche, condensed milk, coconut milk and evaporated milk all mixed together for your eating pleasure.  If that's not enough, you can add bananas, strawberries or blueberries to any crepe along with a side or ice cream.

If you haven't tried Giache Crepes, go give it a try pronto. You will absolutely love the peace, love, crepes... and don't forget - the art. For more information, you can visit their website here.
