It was a night to remember, full of delicious food, luscious libations and relaxing massages that made you feel like you were floating in the air. American Express celebrated the opening of The Centurion Lounge at Miami International Airport Tuesday night, with true Miami flair. It is the first location in the southeast region and the fifth in the country. Situated in the North Terminal in Concourse D, The Centurion Lounge in MIA provides 8,000 square feet of space for Card Members to unwind and recharge on the way to their final destination.

True to the Centurion Lounge tradition, American Express has partnered with James Beard award-winning
Chef Michelle Bernstein to create custom, local menus for the lounge. Bernstein will bring her locally inspired, seasonal menus to The Centurion Lounge in Miami, to include healthy food choices like salads and soups. Not only will travelers get to munch on these tasty appetizers as they await their flight, but Bernstein will also feature heartier comfort entrees with starchier sides. We had the opportunity to sample some of her creations on Tuesday night, and they were sensational.

To complement the food, drinks by renowned mixologist Jim Meehan will be provided, as well as wine selections by wine director Anthony Giglio. I personally couldn't stop sipping the refreshing and citrusy
Navel Gazer made with Absolut Mandarin Vodka, Lillet Blanc, Cointreau and Orange. Other creative cocktails include the 305 Special, made with Casa Dragones Blanco Tequila and the Key Lime Gimlet, a tangy gin concoction which serves its iconic name well.
