Due to popular demand, Peter's fried chicken got its very own night. Formerly just for those in the know and those who begged for the bird, everyone can now indulge in the mouthwatering fried chicken throughout the summer on Fridays.
The best part is that there are a whole lot of sides to choose from so you can make it a family affair. Check out Peter's coveted Four Cheese Mac and Cheese, Onion Rings or his Truffle Pasta. Better yet, order a lot (and I mean a lot) of his Florida Creamed Corn. I was actually thinking of devoting an entire post to the tasty kernels but I wasn't sure if I'd serve it justice. I could live off of that corn. As a matter of fact, Peter, if you're reading this... I really really need that recipe.
Finally, if you've been to Red or you follow my blog, you've probably experienced his decadent desserts either on your own, or virtually through me. Like for example his Fresh and Hot Doughnut Holes served with a trio of sauces. These sweet mouthfuls go great with his Fried Chicken and let me share a tip with you. Break each doughnut in half before eating it and dip each side in a different sauce. Oh my.... you'll thank me later. My favorites are the Chocolate Ganache (of course) and the Raspberry Jam.
You should also try the Red Velvet Oreo Cake (named after my Toy Shih tzu - just kidding) and a Blueberry delight that will blow your mind. I couldn't decide which of the two I enjoyed more so I suggest you get both to decide for yourself. Just to give you a vicarious preview of each, the Oreo cake was decadent and rich while the Blueberry treat was surprisingly sweet and moist. I usually don't go the fruity route with desserts, yet I couldn't put the spoon down.
So now you know. Fridays are made for fried chicken and Red the Steakhouse - South Beach is the place to go. Keep in mind though that there are other reasons to visit Red besides their Friday Poultry and their outstanding steaks. Chef Peter is also featuring Wine Wednesdays and Champagne Thursdays this summer. Need I say more?
