Spend A Virtual Day With Me at CityPlace Doral

I have become a diehard fan of another place in Doral that has just about everything your heart desires. And I'm not just talking food and drinks, but entertainment as well.  CityPlace Doral takes a fun time to a whole new level. Featuring a wide variety of restaurants and bars, you can essentially visit everyday of the week and have a different culinary experience each one.

We spent a Day at CityPlace Doral and our adventure began with Brunch at Kuba Cabana restaurant. This Cuban spot is reminiscent of the glory days of the Pearl of the Antilles.  It’s like you’re suddenly transported back to an elegant and nostalgic era in Cuba where the men were hot, the drinks were cool, and the food…. well that you can see for yourself in the pictures.

From the moment you walk up to the restaurant and look around, you are mesmerized with the attention to detail - the vintage red convertible parked in front where the outdoor mixologist does his thing, the lush Tropical vibe that envelopes it- it’s sheer magic. Then you step inside and take in your surroundings and you continue to be impressed. The cool thing is this place is not just a fantastic spot for brunch, but there is also live entertainment several times a week, happy hour is amazing, and on the last Thursday of every month they host Kuba Cocktails & Cabaret, a dinner show that I hear is an experience all on its own. But back to our boozy Sunday… Kuba Cabana offers a very simple yet flavorful menu for brunch or you can choose to order from their regular menu.  We decided to combine a little from each and experience the best of both worlds.

We started with their Tuna Tartare and mouth-watering Croquetas. Of course we paired that with some refreshing Bloody Marys to get the party started. The great thing about brunch is you can have it bottomless…. Mimosas and Bloody Marys that is. Then we ordered the Huevos Rotos and the Bistec a Caballo and I have to tell you, I haven’t had a steak that tender and flavorful in a long time. I still think of it and smile. We ended our adventure with a cortadito that hit the spot and made plans to come back very soon. Maybe we’ll do Wine Down Wednesdays or maybe we’ll come for the show. Either way, I know it will be a memorable time.

With our tummies full and our hearts happy, we mozied on down to King’s Dining & EntertainmentIf you haven’t been here, you are missing out on a whole lot of fun. There are so many things to do, you will have a hard time deciding. Just think…. there’s bowling, karaoke, billiards, a bar with TVs to watch the games and other activities. We decided to make it a bowling and pool kind of experience and had a rocking time doing it.  I, of course, put everyone to shame on the lane with my mad bowling skills but they will probably tell you differently. Between the cocktails and the laughs, the time flew and the appetite returned.

We then walked over to The Cheese Course to see what all the rave was with their Happy Hour. When you think of The Cheese Course you probably think of delicious sandwiches and an endless selection of mouthwatering cheeses right? Well I’m about to expand that image. It didn’t take long to figure out why they have now added la hora contenta to their repertoire. Offering some tasty plates to pair with their house wine at amazing prices, it is quite easy to see why this is an excellent spot to unwind and hang out in a European kind of way. We sampled all their beautifully plated, tapas-style dishes and I really can’t decide which one I loved more.

Take for example their Roasted Brie - to die for. I was in cheese heaven. Their Meat Platter featuring your choice of meat including prosciutto, serrano and pate is unbelievable and you will also love their Cheese Plate and the Hummus Plate. All of them are super affordable ranging from $8-$10 each with the glass of house wine only costing $5. It’s available everyday from 5-9 and these amazing food specials are included for that price with the purchase of a beverage. One piece of advice… don’t leave without trying their Key Lime Pie. It is unbelievable.

After enjoying the sinfully Happy Hour feast a la Cheese Course, we explored some more of CityPlace Doral.  It’s pretty cool that you can get Laser Treatments, workout, have some drinks, listen to live music, eat great food, do a little shopping either in the store or in the outdoor market (check out their website for dates and times), and then go watch a Comedy Show or work off the calories dancing.

Guess what we did? We decided to experience some belly-grabbing laughs at the Miami Improv Comedy Club. Suffice it to say that it was a hilarious evening that we’re still remembering today, featuring the Plastic Cup Boyz - Na'im Lynn and Spank Horton. Between the opening acts and the Plastic Cup Boyz, my face hurt from laughing so hard. I can't wait to check out The Improv's calendar and book another show really soon.

I honestly feel the hours flew by when we spent our Day at CityPlace Doral. It’s true what they say, time flies when you’re having fun. The best part is that you can design your own day or make an entire weekend of it because the choices are endless. Cheers to that...
