Miami Spice Pick 1 - Red Steakhouse South Beach

Chef Peter Vauthy does it again at Red the Steakhouse South Beach.  Miami Spice kicked off on August 1st, and RED is offering its signature four menus on alternating weeks of the promotion. Because of the variety of options, and the quality and portion of its dishes, Red is my first pick for Miami Spice this year. I sampled a good portion of their menus and there is definitely reason to go back more than once. There's something fun about variety and Chef Peter puts a lot of that in his edible creations so put on a bib and get ready for a vicarious adventure of this year's must haves at Red:

Week 1 of Miami Spice features the "Classic Steakhouse Menu" with favorites like the Classic Caesar Salad, Shrimp Cocktail and Bigeye Tuna Crudo for the first course. Upgrades available for a nominal fee include Oysters Rockefeller and Italian Burrata.

The Second Course options include Certified Angus Beef Petite Filet Mignon and Snake River Farms Wagyu Skirt Steak. Entrees are served with Baked Potato and Broccoli but Side Upgrades (delicious) include the Loaded Baked Potato, Parmesan Truffle Fries (must-have) and Chef Peter's famous 4 Cheese Mac & Cheese.

Desserts this week include Nutella Cheesecake and Chocolate Mousse Cake along with a very delicious Chocolate Chip Cookie Sundae. Executive Pastry Chef Emily Bailey brings a creative and innovative twist to Red's sweet creations that gives the term "happy endings" a whole new meaning. Talk about talent....

Week 2 of Miami Spice is dedicated to the "Seafood Menu" with many of the same menu items as the previous week but additional ocean delights such as the King Crab Cakes, House Salad and the Mussels Diavolo for starters.

Entrees for Week 2 include seafood dishes such as the Flounder Stuffed with Crab and the Shrimp De Jonghe. Desserts for this week that will tickle your fancy are the creative Cereal Milk Panna Cotta, featuring Fruity Pebbles flavored Panna Cotta, caramelized cereal, drizzled with strawberry sauce and Chocolate Banana Bread Pudding.

Week 3 is the "Italian Menu" offering starters like the Osso Bucco Ravioli and the Charred Octopus (a personal favorite). Entrees include Shrimp Alfredo, Bucatini Pasta and Red's World Famous Chicken Parmesan. This is one you have to order. We ate it up so quickly, I didn't even have time to take a picture before somebody stuck a fork in it. It's that good.  Desserts this week include Zeppoli, which are Italian ricotta donuts drizzled with honey and dusted with powdered sugar, and of course, Tiramisu.

And then comes Week 4. This one is their Hall of Famer, "Red's Greatest Hits" featuring many of their fan favorites. For example, you can have their Kobe Beef Empanadas and their Lemon Garlic Shrimp (upgrade). For entrees, order their Lobster Fra Diavolo or the Berkshire Pork Chop. To finish on a sweet note, try their Donut Fries, topped with strawberries, Nutella and raspberry sauce or their Tres Leches.

After Week 4, the menus start all over again with Week 1 for the month of September, giving you a reason to go back (or many) throughout Miami Spice.
